Job Purpose

  • The position is responsible and accountable for all Logistics activities pertaining to the scope of Company Onshore project from movement of materials and equipment to directing preparation of transport and logistics policies, procedures and manuals to insure those activities in support of project operations are consistent and in-line with Company logistics policies.
  • The position shall interact daily with Procurement and Logistics departments personnel of Pioneer Camp and EPC Contractors.
  • The position includes a close coordination and interaction with Port Authorities at Ras Laffan Port, Hamad Marine Port, Hamad International Airport and Road Transport Authorities.
  • The position includes a close coordination and interaction with the Project Head of Planning and Planning and Schedule Specialist(s) in order to keep control on the schedule and key Project and Progress Milestones.
  • Responsible for supporting the EPC Contractors in logistic movements onshore within Ras Laffan City for personnel and material movements and logistics required to support construction camp operations.

Key Job Accountabilities

  • Uphold safety, health, environmental and worker welfare performance of all logistics execution activities being implemented by the EPC Contractors. Implements and sustains a strong safety culture by inspiring safety commitment via demonstration of safety leadership by example. Ensures compliance to all relevant safety, health and environmental procedures and policies to promote a healthy and safe work environment.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with Qatari and 3rd Party transportation authorities to keep aware of and enable utilization of new transportation techniques and systems, and assure effective handling of shipping, including the aspects of customs, export / import matters and foreign government regulations.
  • Maintain contacts with Project Management and their personnel and the EPC Contractors' organizations to ensure project requirements related to logistics are implemented and sustained.
  • Works with the EPC Contractors to identify and implement transportation techniques for the purpose of moving project materials and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Maintain a database to monitor logistic trends and up to date information regarding freight market (cargo vessel availability, crew availability and vessel berth plus rates).
  • Provides advice and support to PMT Project Manager and EPC Contractors on their long-term logistic strategy and programs including personnel movement in RLIC.
  • Prepare logistic analysis reports which contain information and recommendations on project site conditions, transportation modes, legal requirements, customs material handling, and shipping rates. Communicates information to all concerned parties.
  • Directs the planning and execution of logistics studies as required for project PMT.
  • Maintains contact with Traffic & Logistics (T&L) industry sources and information resources to remain informed of industry trends, tools and best practices.
  • Maintains contacts with government regulatory agency personnel as necessary to ensure compliance with applicable regulations.
